WorkplaceFirst Aid – Intermediate Level (16h) – CSA Z1210-17 Compliant
Upon successful completion of this 16-hour IN-PERSON intermediate-level first aid training, the candidate will receive a valid certification that meets the requirements of 'Intermediate First Aid Training' as defined in the CSA Z1210-17 standard.
Early ChildhoodFirst Aider – Early Childhood (8h)
This training is specially designed for educators in childcare settings. It enables them to acquire essential skills for responding to medical emergencies involving young children, particularly infants and preschool-aged children. The training covers the management of severe allergies, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, obstructed airway management and injuries, as well as emergency action plans. Switzerland requires employers to appoint and train enough first-aiders (Nothelfer) scaled to headcount and risk under Ordinance 3 to the Labour Act (ArGV 3, Art. 36), with SECO commentary table 336-1 as the indicative reference and a first-aider reachable on site within three minutes.
Non-family childcare falls under the federal Foster Children Ordinance (PAVO/OPE) implemented by the cantons, and daycare (Kita) staff and family childminders are expected to hold a pediatric BLS-AED first-aid course renewed every 2 years via SRC-certified providers.
Under Article 128 of the Swiss Criminal Code (StGB/CP), failing to render emergency assistance to a person in immediate danger of death is an offence, so there is a legal duty to rescue but no separate civil-immunity shield for the lay rescuer.
The federal Health Professions Act (GesBG, in force since 2020) requires health professionals to keep their skills current through continuing education (Fortbildung) with no uniform federal hour count, and a recognized CPR/AED, ACLS or PALS course counts toward that obligation.
In Swiss medico-social establishments (EMS) and seniors' homes, care aides (Pflegehelfer/in, nationale Anerkennung) and health-care assistants (FaGe) are trained in first aid through their recognized courses, and a recognized, up-to-date certificate renewed periodically meets the requirement.
Fostering in Switzerland is authorised under the Ordinance on the Placement of Children (OPE/PAVO) by the cantons and the child and adult protection authority (KESB); no federal provision explicitly requires a first-aid certificate, but current first-aid and CPR training is recommended.
Online CPR and first aid training is recognized in Switzerland for personal, childcare-licensing and employer needs, with 2-year certification; recommended IVR levels (level 1 for offices, level 2 for trades/logistics) include in-person practice while theory may be delivered online.
